PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element further reduced in display unevenness and partial display chipping, with high display quality and with high reliability and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is formed by sealing a liquid crystal material 5 between two sheets of substrate 2 respectively having transparent electrodes 3 and alignment layers 4 formed on mutually confronting surfaces. The liquid crystal material 5 has <=1.8 V effective voltage. A polar component γp of surface energy of the alignment layers 4 is set to be 100 to <250 (μN/cm). |
