PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector permitting to reduce a lamp power source capacity, in a liquid crystal projector provided with plural projecting lamps and configured so that each projecting lamp projects light on the whole screen. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal projector provided with plural projecting lamps and configured so that each projecting lamp projects light on the whole screen comprises a means for sequentially turning on each projecting lamp at prescribed time intervals so that transient current generated at the time of turning on each lamp is not made to flow at the same time.
