PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make map data to be managed simply. SOLUTION: In this information processing apparatus, map data are managed with a map filename for every prescribed area. The leading one character of the map filename indicates a map structural code and a zoom level for displaying the changeover of the magnifying or the reducing of a map is assigned to the second one character. An x-direction unit code and a y-direction unit code for expressing where the map data are arranged in the same zoom level are assigned respectively by every amount equivalent to three characters to the third to eighth 6 characters. The map filename is constituted of these 8-byte filename and 3-byte extension.
