PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the back scattering in radiation image recording of a radiation image information recorder/reader using a stimulable phosphor sheet. SOLUTION: This radiation image information recorder/reader has an image recording section 10 which accumulates and records the radiation image information of a subject 11 to the stimulable phosphor sheet 2 by irradiating the sheet 2 with radiations 13 transmitted through the subject 11 and an image information reading section 20 consisting of a reading unit 21 for reading the radiation image information by irradiating the stimulable phosphor sheet 2 recorded with this information with the exciting light 31 and an erasing light source 40 which radiates the radiation energy remaining on the sheet 2 and is disposed behind the reading unit 21. A heavy element-containing filter 42 is disposed on the erasing light output surface side of the erasing light source 40 facing the stimulable phosphor sheet 2.
