NONHALOGENATED STYRENE-BASED THERMOPLASTIC FLAME RETARDANT RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: A nonhalogenated styrene-based thermoplastic flame retardant resin composition is provided, which is improved in the flame retardancy with using a nonhalogenated flame retardant and a small amount of polycarbonate. CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises (a) 10-50 parts by weight of a rubber modified styrene-containing graft copolymer; (b) 10-40 parts by weight of a polycarbonate resin; (c) 5-20 parts by weight of a phenol novolac resin; (d) 20-70 parts by weight of a styrene-containing copolymer; and (e) an aromatic phosphate. Preferably the composition comprises 100 parts by weight of (a) + (b) + (c) + (d); and 2-20 parts by weight of an aromatic monophosphate, an aromatic diphosphate or a mixture of an aromatic monophosphate and an aromatic diphosphate. Preferably the rubber modified styrene-containing graft copolymer is polybutadiene, styrene-butadiene copolymer, polyisoprene or butadiene-isoprene copolymer; and the phenol novolac resin is represented by the formula 1.
