PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming device that stably controls the quantity of light, without having to select a chip laser and controlling the temperature a chip for laser. SOLUTION: The image-forming device executes a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, a laser beam power is determined in such a manner that a voltage VREF of a comparator 54, corresponding to the power of each of different laser beams is set by a CPU and D/A converting circuit 55, control is executed so as to obtain power set by an APC circuit; then the surface potential of an image carrier is detected, after the surface the image carrier is light- scanned with each power, and the laser beam power is determined, based on the piece of predetermined laser beam power data and the piece of detected potential data. In the second mode, laser beam power is determined with the surface potential of the image carrier being detected, after the surface of the image carrier is light-scanned with the laser beam power determined in the first mode, and the laser beam power is determined, based on the detected potential data and the data obtained in the first mode. |
