railway transport. SUBSTANCE: proposed brake shoe is made with at least one hook-shaped catch with cavity enclosing wheel flange. Shoe is a solid casting. It has friction part, acting onto wheel roll surface, and carrying part. Depth of catch cavity is not less than sum of wheel flange height and shoe friction part height, and width of catch cavity is not less than sum of normal thickness of flange and rounding-off radius. EFFECT: no negative action of catch onto wheel flange with preservation of its main function, i. e. prevention of shoe slipping beyond the limits of wheel conical roll surface.
