PURPOSE: To provide a shorts-type disposable diaper which can be smoothly put on by preventing both legs of a wearing person from being caught easily by the free side parts of leakage preventing cuffs. CONSTITUTION: In the shorts-type disposable diaper 1 obtained by fitting elastic members for the surroundings of legs to the peripheral parts 2a of leg surrounding openings 6 in an extended state and arranging the leakage preventing cuffs 11 in the neighborhood of both-side edge parts of a core, each of the elastic members for the surroundings of the legs is formed with the first elastic member 4a positioned at the peripheral front part 2a1 of the opening 6 and the second elastic member 4b positioned at the peripheral rear part 2a2 of the opening 6. At a lower crotch area R2, the free side parts of the cuffs 11 are extended toward the insides of the both-side edge parts of the core, the nearly center parts of the free side parts are folded and folded back toward the outsides of the both-side edge part of the core, and the neighborhoods of the folded parts of the free side parts are fixed to a surface sheet at the upper part of the core.
