PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer composition for obtaining a thermosensitive recording material having excellent color developability and storage stability of a recorded part without bringing about staining of texture. SOLUTION: A developer used for the thermosensitive recording material utilizing a color developing reaction of an electron donative colorless dye with an electron acceptive developer comprises a 2,4-bis(phenylsulfonyl)5-methylphenol or a 2,4-bis(4-methyl-phenylsulfonyl)phenol, a carboxylate compound having a ring structure and/or a polyvalent metal salt of the carboxylate compound having the ring structure.
