PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyalkylene oxide polymer, having an aryloxy group or a substituted aryloxy group, very few in content of catalyst, by-product and impurities, necessary for purification and removal, therefore capable of simplifying or abbreviating after-treatment process, and further excellent in heat stability and hydrolysis resistance, using this polyalkylene oxide polymer, which has a compound metal cyanide complex and one or more hydroxy group in a molecule, as a raw material. SOLUTION: This polyalkylene oxide polymer is obtained by reacting a polyoxyalkylene polymer, which has a compound metal cyanide complex and one or more hydroxy groups in a molecule, with a carbonate compound having the aryl group or the substituted aryl group, with no necessity of new addition of any catalyst component.
