PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inducer to a dormant egg of an insect (e.g. a silkworm), having a function for allowing the dormant egg of the insect to be born, and hardly disturbing the physical state of an organism, and further, to provide a method for allowing the dormant egg to be born. SOLUTION: This inducer to the dormant egg contains an insect-anesthetic peptide having an amino acid sequence represented by a sequence number 1 in the sequence table, Glu-Asn-Phe-Ala-Gly-Gly-Cys-Ala-Thr-Gly-Phe-Met-Arg- Thr-Ala-Asp-Gly-Arg-Cys-Lys-Pro-Thr-Phe, having a C-terminus formed into a free acid, and 2435.73 molecular weight as an active ingredient. The peptide has activities for inducing the dormant egg to the insect such as silkworm. The dormant egg can be produced by administrating the peptide to the insect such as the silkworm.
