The undressed timber (12) is immobilized and a tool carrier (16) is moved along three axes. The tool carrier comprises two circular saws (56,58) arranged in perpendicular planes, one a vertical plane, parallel to the tool carrier advance during the sawing phase, and a horizontal plane. The projections of the two saws are tangent in a plane perpendicular to the X direction so as to cut two contiguous faces in a single passage.
