PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an actual braking force with high accuracy for controlling a braking force more appropriately despite of a change in friction coefficient of a friction member. SOLUTION: Plate shaped parts 68, 70 are mounted on both ends of an anchor body 62 for having strain gauges 72, 74 fixed on inner side faces of the plate shaped parts 68, 70 to detect abutting loads Fa, Fb between brake shoes 12, 14 pressed against, a rotating drum at braking and the anchor body 62. Since the abutting loads Fa, Fb change according to a change in friction coefficient of a lining 24 and correspond to the actual braking force with high accuracy, the braking force can be controlled with high accuracy according to a desired amount of braking by feedback-controlling pressing forces of the brake shoes 12, 14 by a brake actuator such that e.g. the abutting loads Fa, Fb correspond with a target abutting load determined according to the desired amount of braking.
