PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retarded thermoplastic resin composition achieving high flame-retardance without lowering the mechanical properties by the addition of only a small amount of additives, giving a molded article having good appearance and free from the troubles of the thermal discoloration and the bleed-out of the ingredient owing to the excellent heat-resistance and water-resistance of the composition and free from halogens to cause the generation of harmful toxic gases and smoke and the corrosion of molding machines. SOLUTION: The flame-retarded thermoplastic resin composition contains (A) a thermoplastic resin, (B) a phosphoric acid compound containing nitrogen atom, (C) a hydroxy-containing compound or its partially esterified compound and (D) an acid neutralizing agent. The amount of the component A is 60-90 pts.wt., the sum of the components B and C is 10-40 pts.wt. (the sum of A, B and C is 100 pts.wt.), the weight ratio of B/C is >=1 and the amount of the component D is 0.1-5 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the sum of A, B and C.
