PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new alkaline agent for applying to human body, such as in cosmetics, excellent in cleaning effect, penetrability and swelling property for the skin and hair and, on the other hand, hardly exhibiting irritating tendency and retainability. SOLUTION: This composition for human body, which contains the new alkaline agent, is such one as to be formulated with guanidine hydroxide and guanidine carbonate and, concretely, is used as a pimple treating agent, a body shampoo, a soap, a depilating agent, a bleaching agent, a hair decolorant, a hair dye, a permanent wave lotion, or the like. Guanidine is a water-soluble and oil-soluble alkali, so, highly compatible with the composition and capable of increasing its alkalinity to >=pH 13 and has swelling action on the tissue, is not retainable and also has no problem of toxicity and environmental pollution.
