PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for folding a mouth of a package bag capable of forming a habit of folding the mouth of the package bag filled with a culture medium, and of nicely preventing the bag mouth from uplifting due to folding back of the bag mouth. SOLUTION: The apparatus for folding the mouth of the packaging bag is equipped with a conveying mechanism 2 for conveying upward the bag mouth P1 of the packaging bag P filled with the culture medium B, a folding back and holding mechanism 21 provided in the course of the conveying passage of the conveying mechanism 2 and capable of folding in the bag mouth P1 in the top of the opening part of the packaging bag P in the horizontal direction nearly along the top surface side of the culture medium B when the packaging bag P is conveyed to a prescribed position, an auxiliary folding in and holding mechanism 23 which auxiliarily and restrictively holds both lateral parts of the bag mouth P1 folded in the horizontal direction to both lateral sides of this folding back and holding mechanism 21, and a bag mouth ear part erecting mechanism 28 for vertically erecting and folding in each bag mouth ear parts P2 protruded from both lateral sides of the base of the bag mouth P1 folded in the horizontal direction and folding in the bag mouth ear parts P2.
