PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve controllability by enabling confirming work of a vehicle side part with inexpensive and compact constitution by using an image pickup device capable of simultaneously picking up images of two directional areas. SOLUTION: The image pickup device 10 capable of simultaneously picking up images of the two directional areas is arranged on a door mirror 51 on the left and right inverse sides of a driver's seat of a vehicle. The device 10 has an optical system for introducing the light to a single image forming lens 11a by making the light of the two directional areas incident from two light transmissive parts 35A and 35B arranged in a case body 1, the device 10 is installed so as to be embedded in a casing 51A of the door mirror 51 of the vehicle, the light transmissive parts 35A and 35B are projected from a part of the casing, one light transmissive part is faced to the vehicle front side, the other light transmissive part is faced to the vehicle rear side, and is constituted so as to be capable of picking up images of the vehicle longitudinal two directional areas.
