HOLDING SEAL MATERIAL USED IN CATALYST CONVERTER FOR EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding seal material used in a catalyst converter for exhaust emission control with good assembling capability and suppressed generation of combustion gas from the holding seal material and provide a method of manufacturing catalyst converter for exhaust emission control. SOLUTION: This holding seal material 1 used in the catalyst holding converter for exhaust emission control is assembled between a catalyst holding body 3 in the catalyst converter for exhaust emission control and a cylindrical metal shell 2 covering the outside of the catalyst holding body 3. The holding seal material 1 is a composite of a mat-like material of ceramic fibers adjusted so that the filling density after being assembled is in a range of 0.1-0.6 g/cm3 and 0.5-20 wt.% organic binder, and the organic binder is vaporized at low temperature.
