PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of producing an optical fiber strong against staining, and having microstructure and a reduced operation by workers. SOLUTION: This method of producing the microstructured optical fiber comprises a step wherein a cylindrical container and a plurality of elongated members extending to at least a part of the length of the cylindrical container are prepared, a process wherein the elongated members are hold at a predetermined space with respect to the container and at least a part of the container is filled with a sol including silica and the sol is changed to a gel, a process wherein the gel body having the plurality of the elongated members is formed and the gel body is separated from the elongated body or the elongated member is separated from the container, and a process wherein the gel body is dried, purified, and sintered and the microstructured optical fiber is pulled out from the sintered gel body. |
