METHOD FOR PRODUCING N-MONOMETHYLOLAMINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an N-monomethylolamine compound in good yield while suppressing side reaction. SOLUTION: This method for reacting formaldehyde or an equivalent of the formaldehyde, with aliphatic amines to provide the N-monomethylolamine compound comprises charging the aliphatic amines into a reactor, and adding the formaldehyde or the equivalent of the formaldehyde in an amount regulated so that the molar ratio of the formaldehyde to the amino group of the aliphatic amines may be 0.5-1 under a reaction condition of 0-80 deg.C temperature and pH 7-14 to react them.
