<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt retractor capable of reliably and simply fixing a child seat to a vehicle seat, without deteriorating transmission efficiency of a power transmitting mechanism. SOLUTION: If the child seat is mounted to the prescribed position of the vehicle seat and the almost total quantity of a seat belt 3 is withdrawn from the retractor 1, an automatic locking mechanism is actuated, the rotation of a reel 4 in the withdrawal direction of the belt is locked, and only its rotation in the take-up direction of the belt is allowed. Under this condition, the withdrawn seat belt 3 is inserted in the mounting hole of the child seat, and a tongue is engaged with a buckle. If a motor operating switch 9 is turned on, a motor 7 is rotated in the take-up direction of the belt, and the excessive belt 3 withdrawn is taken up and is tightly fastened. The child seat is fixed to the vehicle seat by this prescribed tightly fastening force. After this, the operation of the motor 7 is stopped by turning off the motor operating switch 9.</p> |
