PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine starting device which can be engaged and reset even in the event that an angular section in a pinion has bitten into the angular section and a flaw of a ring gear. SOLUTION: The starting device is provided with an output shaft 20 which is driven by a motor and which is equipped with a helical spline 22 in an outer circumference, a driving member 24 and a driven member 26. The starting device is further provided with a one-way clutch 23 in which the driving member 24 engages with the helical spline 22 of the output shaft 20, a pinion shaft 27 in which one end is connected to the driven member 26 of the one-way clutch 23 and in which the other end is equipped with a helical spline 33, and a pinion 29 which engages with the helical spline 33 of the pinion shaft 27 and with the ring gear in the internal combustion engine depending upon the transfer in the pinion shaft 27. The helical spline 22 of the output shaft 20 and the helical spline 33 of the pinion shaft 27 are set so as to be provided with an angle of torsion uniformly inclined in the direction of the rotation opposite to the turning direction caused by a motor drive. |
