PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami mat produced in a factory in advance which can be laid without making a gap in a site to be installed which is not prepared corresponding to designed dimensions. SOLUTION: A tatami mat T1 is furnished with a rectangular tatami base 1, a tatami facing 2, an under edged paper 3 having a long strip like shape and made of cardboard capable of covering from the surface of the side part of the tatami base 1 to the side surface of the tatami base 1, an edged cloth 4 made of an elongated strip-shaped woven fabric, and an elastic member 5 having the upper and lower surfaces horizontal to those of the tatami base 1 and having a parallelogram cross section. The tatami base 1 is formed of a foamed polystyrene board 10 whose upper and lower faces are sandwiched by insulation boards 11, 11 made of a woody fiber. The side surface covering all around the periphery of the tatami base 1 is formed to slant slightly inwardly from the upper surface to the lower surface. The elastic member 5 is housed inside of the edge cloth 4 and cannot be seen from outside.
