METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COOLING SOLID FUEL MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the possibility of spontaneous ignition of solid fuel material prepared from municipal refuse by cooling the material appropriately with gas. SOLUTION: Cooling gas 7 is made to flow through a packed bed of the solid fuel material in a cooling room 4 which builds the packed bed. Temperature of the material is measured and in response to the signal from the measurement device, both discharging speed of the material from a variable speed discharger 11 which discharges the material from the packed bed and flow rate of the cooling gas are controlled.
