<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably mesh a worm and a worm wheel, to eliminate torque irregularity, and to allow smooth performance of radial movement of the worm caused by fluctuations of meshing reaction force. SOLUTION: A rolling bearing 9 supporting the worm rotated by a motor for steering assistance is radially energized so as to apply preload to a meshing part of the worm with the worm wheel and a guide member 30 having guide parts 31 and 31 contacting a circumferential face of the rolling bearing 9 to guide movement of the rolling bearing 9 is provided around the rolling bearing 9 to regulate a moving direction of the rolling bearing 9.</p> |
