PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated steel sheet superior in chalking resistance by reducing a blending quantity of a rust prevention pigment included in a primer coating material, and by forming a clear coating film without the addition of a color pigment as a top layer. SOLUTION: This coated steel sheet comprises a plated steel sheet as a base sheet for coating, which has a Zn-Al-Mg plated layer consisting of 4-10% Al, 1-4% Mg, and as necessary, 0.002-0.1% Ti and 0.001-0.45% B, and the balance substantially Zn, and comprises a coating film through a conversion coating film. This coating film may be either a double coating structure consisting of a primer coating film and a clear coating film, or a triple coating structure consisting of the primer coating film, a brown coating film and the clearing coating film, though it is preferable to form a clear coating without including a color pigment on the top layer. The clear coating film is formed with a coating material of the same resin, for example, as that of the other coating films which include each a color pigment.
