PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel shaft gear type transmission which can complete a speed change to the other shift in a short time. SOLUTION: In this parallel shaft gear type transmission 30, provided with a plurality of paired speed change gear trains G1, G4, G2, G6, G3, Gr interrupting power transmission by axially moving sleeves 33, 34, 35 to be capable of transmitting power by a specific speed change gear train in accordance with action of a shift operating mechanism 40, an opposed gear train in each pair of the speed change gear trains makes a speed change shift work as a discontinued gear train, sleeves 33, 34, 35 can be transferred by electric motor- driven actuators 42, 44, 46 provided corresponding to sleeves 33, 34, 35, respectively in the shift operating mechanism.
