PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a good sealing performance without wearing a seal roll even in the case of constituting the seal roll with a low hardness material. SOLUTION: The seal roll 1 for sealing the atmosphere in a furnace from the outer air while interposing a metallic strip ST coming out/in at the outlet/ inlet of the continuous furnace, are provided. An intermediate roll 5 composed of a high hardness rubber material is arranged and this intermediate roll 5 is airtightly brought into contact with the outer periphery of the seal roll 1 composed of a low hardness rubber material and also, a sealing body 6 is airtightly brought into contact with the outer periphery of the intermediate roll 5.
