PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire tread improved in wet performances combined with snow performances, and a tire using the composi tion. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire tread comprises a rubber component comprising a blend of at least two of (1) 0-30 pts.wt. of a natural rubber(NR), (2) 0-30 pts.wt. of a polybutadiene rubber(BR) and (3) 40-90 pts.wt. of a styrene/butadiene rubber(SBR) having a bound styrene content of 15-45 wt.%, the styrene content in the whole rubber component being 15-30 wt.%, and at least 0.5-10 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. of the rubber component, of a short fiber. The tire is obtained applying the rubber composition.
