PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide, having heat stability, also soluble in an organic solvent, and excellent in workability and transparency. SOLUTION: This polyimide soluble in the organic solvent and having transparency, is obtained by separating a specific isomer from a mixture of many isomers, and has a repeating unit expressed by general formula (1), wherein R is a residual group of an aromatic diamine or the residual group of an alicyclic diamine.
