PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make sheet feed treatment to suit the sort of the material to be recorded. SOLUTION: Cut paper sheets are stacked on a first guide plate 31 and a second guide plate 32 and fed by the first sheet feed treatment to suit the sort of cut sheets as triggered by the printing data fed from an external apparatus. In the condition pressed to the first guide plate 31 by the operator, a paper roll 33 is fed by the second sheet feed treatment to suit the feed of paper roll 33 as triggered by the manipulation on an operation panel 21. In the case the cut sheets being fed have gone out and no more sheet feeding takes place, the sheet feed fail flag is set. If new cut sheets are set by the operator and sheet feeding is to be resumed, the panel 21 is manipulated, when the sheet feed fail flag is set, so that the sheet feeding from the panel 21 is made by the first sheet feed treatment which suits the feed of cut sheets.
