PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an overcurrent detecting apparatus, and prevent the occurrence of heating by a loss of a detecting part. SOLUTION: This load line short circuit detecting device is provided with a driving circuit 6 for turning on and off a driving element 3 by inserting and connecting the driving element 3 for turning on and off a headlamp 1 between a battery and the headlamp 1 of a load line for supplying a power source to the headlamp 1 from the battery and a CPU 5 for controlling the driving circuit 6. The CPU 5 detects a short circuit of the load line when voltage of a connecting point a between the driving element 3 and the headlamp 1 reduces more than preset voltage, and stops supply of the power source to the headlamp 1 by turning off the driving element 3 by controlling the driving circuit 6.
