APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TRACKING OF OPTICAL DISK DRIVING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling tracking of an optical disk driving system are provided to tracking-control an optical disk in consideration of the characteristic of the disk to allow the disk to be normally reproduced even if the disk is an eccentric disk. CONSTITUTION: The amount of eccentricity of a rotating optical disk is measured(S11). A coefficient value that determines operation characteristics of a tracking servo loop corresponding to the measured amount of eccentricity is set(S13). The tracking servo loop is set with the coefficient value to variably set the operation characteristics(S14). The eccentric component of the optical disk is compensated according to the operation characteristics of the tracking servo loop(S15).
