PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for displaying a power element of an image display device are provided to calculate consumption power according to variations in voltage and current applied to the image display device to display the calculated consumption power on a screen. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for displaying a power element of an image display has a power supply(200) for supplying power and a display(800). The apparatus includes a key input unit(100) for selecting an operation command or display item a user wants, a sensor(300) for sensing voltage and current provided by a power supply, and an analog/digital converter(400) for converting the voltage and current sensed by the sensor into digital signals. The apparatus further has an operation processor(600) for converting the digital signals into consumption power, and an OSD generator(700) for displaying the converted consumption power on a predetermined region of the display according to a control signal of a controller(500).
