PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclohexanone compound, and to provide a method for producing a silacyclohexane type liquid crystal compound which is the derivative of the cyclohexanone compound. SOLUTION: The cyclohexanone compound represented by the general formula (I), wherein Ar is phenyl or tolyl; R is Ar, a 1 to 10C linear alkyl, a 1 to 10C mono- or di-fluoroalkyl, a 3 to 8C branched alkyl or a 2 to 7C alkoxyalkyl.
