PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a command lever and its driving mechanism and to speed up an opening apparatus. SOLUTION: A warp opening apparatus in a weaving machine uses one or more differential gear mechanisms attached to each of heald frames, one or more motion converting mechanisms and one or more motors. The differential gears comprise a first gear, a second gear to be meshed with the first gear, a supporting body which supports the first gear and is rotatable around a revolving shaft line of the first gear and a third gear which is meshed with the second gear and is rotatable around the revolving shaft line of the first gear. Any one member among the first gear, the supporting body and the third gear of the differential gear mechanism is connected to a driving shaft, one member of the others is connected through the motion converting mechanism to a supporting mechanism of the heald frames and the residual member is connected to the motor.
