PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide glass, having a composition substantially free from PbO, suitable for a glass tube of a fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The glass has the composition consisting of, by mass, 60-73% SiO2, 1-7% Al2O3, 12-24% B2O3, 0-5% Li2O, 0-8% Na2O, 2-12% K2O, 5-15% (Li2O+Na2O+K2O), 0.05-5% (WO3+TiO2+Nb2O5), and 0.002-5% (Bi2O3+CeO2+ Fe2O3). The glass has the average linear expansion coefficient of 48-58×10-7/ deg.C within the temperature range of 50 deg.C to the glass transition point (Tg).
