EXHAUST GAS PURIFIER USING PLASMA

PURPOSE: An exhaust gas purifier using plasma is provided to remove smoke elements by removing a portion of NOx included in the exhaust gas by using plasma causing chemical reaction and by using the chemical reaction of the smoke elements collected via a filter with NO2. CONSTITUTION: A plasma reactor(20) is installed in an exhaust pipe through which the exhaust gas generated by a diesel engine(10) is discharged. The plasma reactor is driven by the output voltage of a high voltage generator(40). With high voltage application, the plasma reactor generates plasma between a ground electrode and a discharge electrode. A filter(50) for collecting and oxidizing smoke elements and noxious elements of the exhaust gas is installed at the rear end of the plasma reactor. Behind the filter, a catalytic converter(60) for oxidizing the noxious elements in the exhaust gas passing through the filter is installed. By electrochemical reaction via plasma, a portion of NOx in the exhaust gas is removed and NO is converted into NO2. A portion of CH fuel is oxidized to H2O and CO2. The smoke elements collected by the filter are oxidized by the chemical reaction of NO2. Noxious compounds passing through the filter are oxidized by the catalytic converter.
