ANTIFOULING AGENT, FRIENDLY TO ENVIRONMENT, USING WATER-SOLUBLE METABOLITE OF SEAWEED

PURPOSE: Provided is an antifouling agent using a water-soluble metabolite produced from Dictyota friabilis being a seaweed, which is friendly to environment and replaces tributyl tin(TBT). CONSTITUTION: The antifouling agent contains the water-soluble metabolite produced by a process comprising the steps of: culturing the Dictyota friabilis in seawater; passing the Dictyota friabilis cultured seawater through a column filled with a hydrophobic resin such as an alkyl-substituted dextran or silica resin to accumulate the water-soluble metabolite; and eluting the water-soluble metabolite by using methanol solvent. The water-soluble metabolite is solid with light brown and is dissolved in methanol very well.
