PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for retrieving a paging channel of a WLL(Wireless Local Loop) terminal are provided to quickly respond to a message of a system by retrieving the paging channel always in the case of being operated as a non-slotted mode. CONSTITUTION: A power unit(30) senses an AC power of an AC power supply unit(10) and a battery(20) and supplies a power. A modem(40) recognizes a sensing signal of the power unit(30) so that an RF(Radio Frequency) unit(50) is operated as a slotted mode or a non-slotted mode. The RF unit(50) communicates with a radio port by wireless and transmits a received signal to the modem(40). A codec(60) converts an analog signal received from a telephone or receiver(70) into a digital signal and transmits the digital signal to the modem(40), or transmits voice data received from the modem(40) to the telephone or receiver(70).
