The method involves determining the demand value for a torque applied to a shaft in the drive train taking into account a torque loss and controlling actuating elements of the drive depending on the demand value. The torque loss (TQLOSS) depends on a servo torque (TQSERVO) required to be provided for a power steering system and is determined depending on a steering angle (STA). An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for controlling a drive for a motor vehicle.
