INFORMATION EXTRACTION FROM GEL ELECTROPHORESIS IMAGES

A method of analyzing gel electrophoresis images is disclosed. The method includes accessing data from an experimental image and a reference image developed under different experimental conditions. The difference in the experimental conditions causes displaced regions of the experimental image to occupy a different position than the displaced regions would occupy if experimental image were developed under the same experimental conditions as the reference image. The method also includes determining a corrected position for at least a portion of the displaced regions. The corrected position is the approximate position that a displaced region of the experimental image would occupy if experimental image were developed under the same experimental conditions as the reference image.
