An architecture for a transaction based computing environment comprises a plurality of trading partners (10a-10d) or computers having disparate operating systems interconnected through a transaction based environment (11) by which messages are directed according to the transaction to be performed. Trading partner computers included a plurality of agents, configuration objects, and interfaces wherein the interfaces converted messages into a context which dictates the action to be taken.
