PURPOSE: A method of forming a welded structure from a number of constituent pieces and an arrangement for forming the welded structure are provided. CONSTITUTION: In a method of forming a welded structure(1) comprising the steps of arranging on a support surface constituent pieces of the structure to be welded in a desired configuration, and welding with welding apparatus(4) the constituent pieces together at a plurality of weld points to form the welded structure(1), the method further comprises the steps of recording at least one image of the arrangement of the constituent pieces on the support surface, determining from the image(s) the positions of said weld points, and controlling the welding of the constituent pieces with said welding apparatus(4) on the basis of the determined positions of the weld points. The welding arrangement for forming a welded structure(1) from a plurality of constituent pieces comprising a support surface for supporting the constituent pieces in the configuration of a structure to be welded, and welding apparatus(4) for welding together constituent pieces of a structure(1) to be welded supported on the support surface is characterized in that the arrangement further comprises evaluating means for determining the positions of weld points of a structure(1) to be welded by the welding apparatus(4) supported on the support surface and including camera means(3) for providing an image of the structure(1) to be welded, whereby the positions of the weld points determined by the evaluating means are used in welding of the structure by the welding apparatus(4).
