A learning device includes a processor for executing instructions and a computer readable medium storing a computer program product. The computer program product causes the processor to retrieve expression files having digitized recorded expressions. The expression files having expression file codes based on expression attributes. The product also includes instructions to deliver the expression files for processing into audio signals. The learning device enables playback of linguistic expressions in a user prescribed order. The order can be independent of the order in which the expressions were originally recorded on the recording medium.
