The Cu precipitation strengthened steel of the invention comprises, on the mass percent basis, C: 0.02-0.10%, Mn: 0.3-2.5%, Cu: 0.50-2.0%, Ni: 0.3-4.0% and Ti: 0.004-0.03% and further comprises Si: 0.01-0.4% and/or Al: 0.001-0.1%, with the contents of incidental impurities being P: not more than 0.025%, S: not more than 0.01%, N: not more than 0.006% and Se: not more than 0.005%, with the value of Pcm defined by the formula (1) given below being not more than 0.28.
