PURPOSE: A shroud made by using Korean paper(han-ji, Korean native name) obtained by adding a reinforcing agent during production of Korean paper and then drying two or more of paper sheets at a time is provided which does not remain foreign material during cremation and burial of the body. CONSTITUTION: Paper mulberry(Broussonetia Kazinoki Sieb.) is soaked in water, outer skin thereof is removed therefrom and the soaked tree is heated with slaked lime and caustic soda for 4 to 5 hr, followed by drying under sunlight and bleaching in flowing water. The pretreated tree is then beat and added with a paste and a reinforcing agent. Thereafter, the obtained Korean paper is folded up by two or more sheets and dried to make the titled shroud. |
