PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form an organic insulating film between data lines and pixel electrodes by overlapping edge parts of the data lines with the pixel electrodes, thereby reducing the parasitic capacitance due to the data lines and the pixel electrodes and reducing the vertical crosstalk. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes a dummy gate insulating film and dummy gate electrodes(43) stacked on a bottom substrate with a predetermined pattern and separated from gate lines, an insulating film between layers formed on the bottom substrate including the dummy gate electrodes with a step difference, drain electrodes(45a) formed on the insulating film between layers with a step difference from data lines(45b), contacting drain areas and overlapped the dummy gate electrodes partially on the dummy gate electrodes, the data lines formed on the insulating film between layers crossing the gate electrodes and having a step difference from drain electrodes, a passivation film formed on the insulating film between layers including the dummy gate electrodes and the data lines, contact holes formed to expose the drain electrodes overlapped with the dummy gate electrodes, and pixel electrodes(47) contacting the drain electrodes via the contact holes and overlapped on edge parts of the data lines.
