PURPOSE: Provided is an externally circulated air-lift bioreactor which is minimized in its size, and equipped with separation and purification device together, improves the productivity of the second metabolites produced by plant and animal cells and immobilized product and reduce the generation of waste water by recycling waste water. CONSTITUTION: The bio-reactor characteristically consists of an aeration unit(26) providing air to culture broth; a circulation unit(28) having a path to the aeration unit(26) and deaerating CO2 then recirculating it to the aeration unit(26); an outlet(30) discharging products obtained from the bio-reactor or culture; and an inlet(20) for separation and purification process or reuse.
