A teaching system (10) for training students to perform exams performed manually inside a body cavity. The system (10) contains an anatomical simulator (12) made from a manikin (14). Manikin (14)has simulator cavities (11 and 15) an a tactile sensor (16) that is located within the manikin (14) so as to generate a signal in response to manual contact with an inside surface of the simulator cavity (11 or 15). System (10) also contains feedback presentation unit (18), which is in communication with sensor (16). To perform the exam, the student places a hand into the opening (20), which gives acces to cavity (15) and executes a series of steps. In one embodiment the system (10) is used to teach pelvic exams, wherein removable organs such as a uterus (22) and an attached cervix (24) are used in the anatomical simulator (12).
